Samaritans

Samaritans has been chosen as charity partner for the Employee Benefits Awards for the third year running.

Stress in the workplace is frequently cited as the number one issue affecting employee productivity. Thirteen million working days are lost to stress, depression and anxiety in the UK each year, resulting in a staggering financial loss of £3.7 billion.

Samaritans WorkLife is an award-winning training programme, equipping managers with the skills to resolve difficult issues early on, thereby reducing long term sickness absence due to stress, anxiety and depression. As such, it supports the Health and Safety Executive’s standards and guidelines for tackling work related stress and mental health issues in the workplace.

In addition, each year Samaritans holds a national “Stress Down Day” campaign, encouraging employees to slip on their slippers and de-stress at work.

Samaritans is also for everyone. As the UK’s leading emotional support service, trusted by over 5 million people a year, Samaritans is a lifeline for anyone in distress. Whether it is redundancy, stress, depression, debt, relationship problems or loneliness, Samaritans is always there 24/7, 365 days a year by phone, email, letter and face-to-face.

With a call received every six seconds, Samaritans relies on over 16,000 volunteers to respond to people who need someone to talk to in confidence. Volunteers are part of local communities across 200 branches, increasingly reaching out to vulnerable groups in schools, prisons, hospitals, festivals and in the workplace.

Please help support Samaritans to make the workplace a more emotionally wealthy and productive environment for everyone by giving a donation when you submit your entry.
