• Mark Bradshaw, Director, Reward & Recognition, Tata Steel Europe

  	Mark Bradshaw is Director, Reward & Recognition for Tata Steel Europe. He has worked in employee benefits for longer than he is prepared to say and, amongst others, has worked at Amey, Siemens and National Grid. In 2011, Mark led his team to win Employee Benefits Team of the Year at the Employee Benefits Awards.

   

• Nik Butcher, Senior GM Reward, Ceva Logistics Limited

  . Nik Butcher is a Business-focused Reward Manager with extensive experience of all aspects of reward management from strategy and policy design through creation, implementation and communications. Having recently moved to RS Components, Nik has previously been responsible for full Recognition Programmes and major Company Pension changes for Companies within the Logistics, Retail and Manufacturing Industries, as well as the “day job” Reward matters.

   

• John Chilman, Group Reward & Pensions Director, FirstGroup plc

  John has been Group Reward & Pensions Director at FirstGroup since December 2005, working in Reward since 1999. A Chartered Accountant by training, John is business focussed, and drives to successfully transform strategic vision into practice. John is a Trustee of the Railways Pension Scheme, and Chairs its Investment Committee. He is also a Trustee of pension arrangements in the North America. John and his team have been recognised with numerous awards for their pensions and benefits work. John is a past winner of the Employee Benefits, Benefits Professional of the Year and Professional Pensions, Pension Scheme Manager of the Year.

• Andrew Clark, Head of Reward, John Lewis Partnership

   

  Andrew has spent 21 years in the John Lewis Partnership which operates 35 John Lewis shops (29 department stores and six John Lewis at Home), 271 Waitrose supermarkets, an online catalogue business, johnlewis.com, a production unit and a farm with a Group turnover of over £8 billion last year. Joining the Partnership from The University of Manchester, he has worked in a variety of commercial and human resources roles in the branches, moving into the department store division's head office in 2001. In 2003 he took up the position of Head of Personnel Operations for the John Lewis division, where he introduced a new performance related pay system. He moved to his current role as Head of Reward for the Group in 2008. He is responsible for developing the Partnership's reward strategy including compensation, benefits, job evaluation, performance management and the Leisure Service which operates five hotels for the exclusive use of Partners, five yachts and over 130 social clubs and societies.

• Chris Coyne, Group Head of Reward / Human Resources, City and Guilds

  Chris joined City & Guilds in 2008, from DTZ, one of the UK’s largest commercial property advisors. Prior to this he has a broad career in HR and systems along with time in the Royal Navy as a commissioned officer. Chris has a degree in Organisational Studies and an MSc in Strategic HR Management. Within City & Guilds he has a remit to develop a reward philosophy and strategy to support a significant period of organisational development. He is particularly interested in implementing the concept of total reward and in the power of communication to deliver value within reward initiatives.

   

• Ricky D'Ash, Compensation & Benefits Manager, IAG (UK)

  	Ricky has worked at Equity Insurance Group for the past two and half years. Previous to that he worked in the hi-tech industry as Global Rewards Consultant, UKMEA, for Unisys Limited. Prior to Unisys he worked within the financial services industry where he held several roles spanning compensation and benefits in Barclays Bank, The Prudential and Woolwich.

  
   

• Evan Davidge, Associate Head of Reward, Programmes & Data Management at Ove Arup & Partners International

  Evan is a founder member of Reward Consulting Partners LLP and UKMEA Associate Head of Reward for Ove Arup & Partners International Ltd. He is also an accredited reward consultant and trainer for the CIPD and World at Work Association respectively. In addition, he is a panel consultant for the Improvement & Development Agency – the local Government think tank. Evan mainly specialises in total reward solutions where as a practitioner and adviser he has contributed to industry leading solutions for major organisations such as Nationwide Building Society, The Carphone Warehouse and the Department for Transport as well as numerous other small and medium sized organisations. Evan previously spent 30 years as an administrative officer in the RAF where he was a senior project manager for the Armed Forces Pay Review Body.

   

• Ant Donaldson, Senior Specialist - Employee Benefits, E.ON

   

  Ant has led E.ON UK's employee benefits provision for five years. Having launched several new benefits and updated many others, his team’s focus has been on engaging E.ON’s diverse workforce and continuously improving their experience, culminating in winning Benefits Team of the Year 2010 and then the Employee Benefits Grand Prix in 2011. Before working in the benefits arena, he led segments of E.ON's customer-facing energy business and has a background in finance.

• Ian Hodson, Reward And Benefits Manager, University Of Lincoln

  Ian is the Reward and Benefits Manager at the University of Lincoln overseeing all aspects of reward including all employee benefits, pensions, payroll and role evaluation. Having started his career in finance before moving specifically in to pay and benefits Ian has a background in both the public and private sector having previously worked for Moy Park, Egg Plc and Lincolnshire County Council. A firm believer and champion in the importance of pay and benefits as a driver for change and in supporting organisational agendas Ian has previously overseen teams that have been acknowledged for their achievements at sector awards for pay and benefits including being a prior winner at the Employee Benefit Awards.

   

• Susan Hughes, Policy Manager, BP UK Pensions & Benefits

  	BP is one of the world's largest energy companies, active in over 30 countries and with more than 80,000 employees worldwide. Susan has 20+ years experience in the pensions industry and is currently responsible for UK policy as it relates to pension and benefit provision at BP. She is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute.

   

• Rosemary Lemon, Group head of reward and executive remuneration, Legal and General

   

  	Rosemary has over 25 years experience of working in business and HR and in particular with respect to remuneration and benefits. She has worked in a wide range of industries and FTSE 100 companies including oil & gas, container shipping & logistics, luxury Retail and Financial Services.

• Zara Loughrey, UK head of HR, Pall Europe

   

  Zara is currently UK Head of HR at Pall Europe and has over 18 years experience in HR and Reward.She has an MSc in Law and Employment Relations and has previously worked at Eli Lilly, NATS and VT Group amongst others. Highlights of her experience include executive compensation management, introducing broadbanding, implementing flexible benefits and share plans, managing pension change and developing employee communications.

• Tim Middleton, Technical consultant at the Pensions Management Institute

  Tim Middleton has worked in the pensions industry since 1987. His roles have covered consultancy with Bacon & Woodrow (now Aon Hewitt), Mercer and Barnett Waddingham. He is currently Technical Consultant for the Pensions Management Institute (PMI), where he works extensively on the External Affairs Committee and provides input into PMI’s education programme. He also writes frequently for the pensions press. He is a Fellow of the PMI and holds the CII’s Diploma in Financial Planning. He is a past chairman of the PMI’s London Group.

   

• Jeremy Mindell, Senior Reward and Tax Manager, Henderson Global Investors

  Jeremy is the Senior Reward & Tax Manager at Henderson Global Investors. He has worked in International employment taxation and remuneration for over twenty years. After working in the Big 4 accountancy practices latterly as a Senior Manager, he moved to HGI. Jeremy specialises in devising efficient cost effective and tax compliant pay share schemes and reward structures. Jeremy was elected as a member nominated Director of the Henderson pension scheme in 2008.

   

• Harsha Modha, Director of UK Benefits, GlaxoSmithKline

   

  Harsha is a qualified and experienced pensions and benefits professional with over 21 years experience with GSK. Harsha has responsibility for a variety of UK benefit programmes all of which are outsourced, such as Pensions, Healthcare, SAYE, SIP, SIPP, Salary Sacrifice Plans, Childcare, EAP, Employee Car Ownership Scheme, Family Support and Voluntary Benefits. Harsha has led critical team projects and initiatives at GSK. She has consolidated a number of external and internal benefit providers leading to a seamless service and cost savings for GSK.

• Julie Osman, Director of Pensions and Benefits, Eli Lilly

  Julie Osman trained as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in Southampton. She joined Lilly in 1991 spending 10 years in financial management roles before moving to HR in 2001 as Director of Pensions and Benefits. During her tenure Julie has introduced share plans, flexible benefits, a field force ECO scheme, an EAP and managed pension change for the UK and ROI. The Lilly Pension Plan has won awards for employee participation and the Lilly SIPP holds the Pension Quality Mark Plus Award.

   

• Sarah Perkins, UK Healthy Living Manager, American Express

   

  Sarah Perkins is the UK Healthy Living Manager for American Express. Her role involves managing the implementation of initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of the UK AmEx employee population and engaging stakeholders to ensure this is effectively rolled out. Sarah joined American Express from a consulting capacity in healthcare communications and most recently in social marketing. Her background is in health promotion and nutrition and she holds a Masters of Public Health from Deakin University, Australia.

• Dev Raval, Director of Reward, BSkyB

  Dev Raval is the Director of Reward at BSkyB. Sky use reward programmes to better align their people to the company's strategy and to improve their engagement and performance levels. Dev has worked on a number of major initiatives to support this aim, including launching new benefits and recognition programmes as well as on processes to improve the link between reward and performance. Prior to Sky, Dev has worked in senior international reward roles at Vodafone, GlaxoSmithKline and Citigroup.

   

• Peter Reilly, Director HR Research & Consultancy, Institute for Employment Studies

   

  Peter Reilly the Director of Research and Consultancy at the Institute for Employment Studies. He joined IES in 1995 after a 16 year career with Shell where he held various HR posts in the UK and abroad covering both generalist and specialist roles. He leads IES’s Reward and Performance Management area, giving consultancy support to organisations on various remuneration issues. He is the editor of two reports on New Reward (dealing with market pay, variable pay, flexible benefits, total reward, etc); has co-authored ‘Evidence-Based Reward Management’; and has written various articles such as Total reward is a capital idea, (Strategic HR Review) or Employee Engagement: What Is the Relationship with Reward Management?

• Jane Richards, Reward Technical Partner, Wealth Management, Royal Bank of Scotland

  Jane joined RBS in January 2011 and manages reward for the bank's Wealth Management division, the international private banking arm of the Group. Operating under the Coutts brand, the bank offers private banking services to 39,000 clients worldwide. In her current role Jane oversees all aspects of the reward proposition to the bank's 5,000 staff globally, with particular focus on compensation, executive pay and governance. Prior to this Jane worked for BDO LLP, the UK chartered accountancy firm, where she was responsible for reward for the firm's 3,000 employees. During her time there, Jane had particular responsibility for employee benefits and delivered numerous projects including the relaunch of the flexible benefits programme, enhancements to the pension scheme, the introduction of a health and well being programme and the design and implementation of a national recognition scheme. Jane has also held reward roles at Accenture and Cable & Wireless.

   

• Seth Russell, Director of Reward, Three UK

  Seth Russell is Director of Reward at Three, the UK’s fastest growing Mobile Network. He started his career as a HR Generalist in the Civil Service and NHS where he developed his interest in Reward and Benefits. He moved into his first Reward role with British Gas in 1989 moving quickly to the Exploration & Production division where his role developed internationally. Since leaving BG Russell has worked in Reward and Benefits roles across several sectors at Citibank, Visa International, BBC Worldwide and BP. His current role also includes responsibility for HR Policy, Employee Relations and HR shared services.

   

• Eleanor Smith, Rewards and Mobility Manager, Linklaters LLP

  Since November 2010, Eleanor has led the Rewards and Global Mobility teams at Linklaters LLP – one of the Magic Circle law firms in London. Eleanor has 22 years’ experience as an HR professional. Prior to joining Linklaters, Eleanor was Associate Director, Rewards at Covance Inc., a US-headquartered clinical research organisation, where she led both the Global Mobility team and the Rewards team across 54 countries. Her retail HR experience includes heading up specialist Rewards and Systems teams at Sainsburys, Boots and BHS and she also held a number of generalist and specialist HR roles at Aventis Pharma and Tiphook Ltd. .

   

• Janine Sparks, Reward Manager, BA

  Janine is a Fellow of the CIPD with over 25 years'experience in Reward. She joined British Airways in 2009 to take responsibility for employee benefits for British Airways' 37,000 employees. She previously worked for LloydsTSB Asset Finance for 19 years as Head of Reward. Highlights of her experience include leading a number of reward integration projects as a result of merger and acquisition activity, introducing broad banding, and introducing a Total Reward philosophy.

   

• Maria Strid, Head of Performance & Reward UK Bank, HSBC Bank

   

  Maria Strid is the Head of Performance & Reward at HSBC UK Bank plc. Prior to joining HSBC in January 2011, Maria was the Head of Reward & International Mobility at Santander UK, where she was responsible for redesigning and executing the bank’s reward strategy following multiple business acquisitions. Maria started her Compensation & Benefits career at Arup Group. She is a Chartered Member of the CIPD, a CIPD Reward Forum Committee member, and has a degree in Business and HR Management.

• Tim Taylor, Head of Reward and Recognition, TUI UK and Ireland

  	Tim Taylor is Head of Reward and Recognition for TUI Travel UK and Ireland the largest sector in TUI Travel PLC, Europe’s leading leisure travel company. In his role he covers all areas of reward for some 15,000 employees, manages the pension team and is also responsible for HR systems and MI.

• Karen Thomson, Member of the Nest Employer Panel

  Karen has more than 20 years experience working in areas of HR, Pensions and for the last 17years in payroll. Karen has worked in the private, public and Local Authority sectors. Karen is responsible for the many of the CIPP member benefits including: updating the CIPP website with current news, producing the weekly electronic newsletter - News Online, regular Payroll Professional (member magazine) articles and the provision of articles and journals to external professional bodies and media. Karen also oversees and attends a number of consultation forums that includes HMRC, the Department of Work and Pensions and the Scottish Government. Karen is a member of the Admin Burdens Advisory Board, and also currently co-chairs the Employment Consultation Forum. Karen is also a Member of the Employer Panel of Advisors to NEST. Karen is a diploma and Masters graduate who has continued her involvement with the CIPP Education as a tutor for both the Foundation Degree and the Masters in Payroll & Business Management.

   

• Martin Todd, Head of Reward, Grant Thornton

  Martin is currently the Head of Reward & Policy for Grant Thornton UK LLP. He originally started out his career in tax with HMRC before moving into consultancy roles with both Deloittes and PwC where he advised a portfolio of clients on tax effective reward and more general reward projects. He then moved to Norwich Union (now Aviva) as a reward manager before becoming the Head of Reward for the General Insurance and RAC businesses where he advised on all aspects of reward and reward policy for those two business areas. In mid 2007 Martin set up his own company working on interim assignments to deliver reward solutions to clients and since then has worked for Alliance Pharmacy, the BBC, PwC and Grant Thornton UK LLP in senior interim reward roles dealing with a mix of both strategic and operational reward projects.

   

• Sara Turner, UK Head of Benefits & Well Being, KPMG

  I’m a member of KPMG’s UK Performance & Reward team and my areas of specialism are employee benefits, recognition and employee wellbeing. I have been with KPMG since 1998 and have previously held roles as an HR business partner and also as both a Diversity and also an Employee Relations specialist. I have particular interests in employee recognition and in using Reward to engage and motivate employees in a high performing culture. I’m currently responsible for our overall proposition across benefits and wellbeing, working with a wide range of internal stakeholders and external vendors to achieve leading edge solutions for our employees. We’ve recently repackaged our flexible benefits scheme to revitalise interest, with great success. We’re now planning some exciting changes to our package and also widening the breadth of the communications tools we use for engaging with our professional and mobile working. I’ve a Masters in HRM but my real knowledge is gained from the experiences I have enjoyed at KPMG and the expertise of colleagues both internally and at other employers of choice.

   

• Carolyn Wilkinson, Benefits Leader, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP

   

  Carolyn is the Benefits Leader for PwC in the UK. The role sits alongside the Reward and Recognition team in the Human Capital function. Carolyn has worked for PwC since 1979 and her expertise is mainly around flexible benefits and health related benefits such as occupational health. Carolyn is responsible for delivery of the benefits strategy which recognises the diverse needs and preferences of PwC people and supports PwC’s business strategy. She has responsibility for implementation of effective policies and processes which comply with regulatory requirements, are financially efficient and market competitive.

• Richard Wilson, Senior Policy Adviser, National Association of Pension Funds

  Richard Wilson is Senior Policy Advisor at the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF), having joined the Association at the beginning of 2009. He has extensive pension policy experience, having worked on pension issues for both the Association of British Insurers and Help the Aged. In his role at the NAPF, Richard particularly focuses on public sector pensions and the 2012 pensions auto-enrolment reforms. Richard led the launch of the NAPF’s Pension Quality Mark, the scheme for recognising good quality Defined Contribution workplace pensions. He is also an elected local councillor and was a member of the London Borough of Haringey’s Pension Committee from 2006 to 2011. Richard has also been a Board Member of the Personal Finance Education Group (pfeg), the charity which promotes and supports financial education in schools.
